Livestock Population Trends

This visualisation shows livestock populations by country and region

Use the different tabs within the viz to explore:

Tabs 1 and 2 - Country Bubble and Colour Maps Provide a global overview, allowing users to see which nations host specific livestock populations and how these distributions shift over time. Bubble areas and shading intensity scale directly with population counts, offering an immediate visual sense of magnitude.  

Tabs 3 and 4 - Line Chart and Annual % Change Drill into the trends behind the numbers, enabling users to explore population trajectories within specific countries or regions. These views include critical metadata flags, distinguishing between official figures and estimated values.  

Tab 5 - Top 10 Features an animated bar chart race, illustrating how the leading countries for each species have changed position through the years.

Tab 6 - Data Sources Notes on methods and data limitations from the data provider. Enables users to interpret findings with context.

Each viz includes data for asses, bees, buffaloes, camels, cattle, chickens, ducks, geese, goats, horses, mules, pigs, rabbits, sheep, and turkeys; from 1961 to 2024.
